Priya started travelling alone in her twenties, partly to prove she could and partly because nobody else could get the time off. She learned to read a place’s safety honestly — not through panic and not through pretending everywhere is fine — and to trust hospitality exchange without being naive about it.

She writes the Journal’s solo and safety guides so that a woman travelling on her own gets the real calculus: which gut checks matter, how to vet a host, what to actually do when a plan goes sideways at 11pm in a city you met this morning.
